hey,
it has been a while that i have visited my blog. due to my busy shedule since my clinicals began last year, and due to certain other major developments in my life, i had to be away from the blog.
during recent times i always found how difficult it was to use the internet in certain aspects of my clinicals. especially if i search for a disease condition , what normally appears are the sites that gives information of the particular disease,to laymen. Or high advanced researches done by various people, of which we can only read the abstract. Since im full time in to medicine now, i thought of devoting my blog, in the cause of trying to find a solution.
so, the basic aim is to produce patient histories of importance here, and trying to generate a discussion on my blog. so i would be puting up important cases here in my blog,that i would be meeting here in Galle,and along with it a brief discussion.
I would love if my friends in the medical faculties here in galle, srilanka or elsewhere in the world would gather around me in generating a good discussion on the certain aspects of these cases.
if they could help me with the following i would be more than grateful
1. generate a discussion on the particlar patient management with relevant investigations.
2. point out differences in patient management adopted by different consultants and institutions and the logical explanation behind them
3. point out lacks in my history taking and examination
4. also provide similar case histories
so, are you with me in this?

o Best acceptable answer - 2 marks.
o Next best answer - 1 mark.
o Unacceptable answer - 0 marks.
Marks obtained plotted against number of students
o Range = 9 - 16
o Mean = 14.01
o Mode = 15
o Median = 14
o Standard deviation = 1.685
Marks plotted against Male and Female student samples
o Male
Mean = 14.52
Standard deviation = 1.22
o Female
Mean = 13.64
Standard deviation = 1.86
o Next using statistical methods we inquired whether the observed difference among male and female was statistically significant or just due to chance.
o A null hypothesis was formed
There is no difference between the male and the female samples regarding mean value obtained in the questionnaire, on healthy practices in food and water consumption
Z= X1 – X2
s1² + s2²
n1 n2
Z = 2.8701
Chi square test were applied to certain aspects of the study
o Null hypothesis-
there is no difference between male and female students on the practice of washing hands with soap and water before each meal
o Chi square value obtained = 0.2151
o 0.05 confidence interval = 3.84
o Null hypothesis
–There is no significant difference between male and female students in consumption of boiled water for drinking purposes
o Chi square value obtained = 0.326
o 0.05 confidence interval value for a 3×2 contingency table = 5.99
CONCLUSIONS
o The study was associated with two samples in the population, Male students and Female students.
o In overall healthy practices in consumption of food and water, a statistically significant difference between males and females were observed.
